Buy 4K/8-Megapixel (4K is 4 X Higher Resolution than 1080p)

► NVR = Network Video Recorder (NEW Technology – CAT5e, CAT6 Data Cable)

► NVR systems use Power over Ethernet (PoE) to Power the Cameras over the CAT5e/CAT6 Ethernet Cabling.

► NVR systems use IP Cameras (unless you use an adapter to allow use of an older technology Analog Camera)

► NVR systems process the video/data at the camera rather than on the recorder

► NVR recorders receive a digital signal from the cameras, so video quality is better than compared to a DVR at the same resolution

► Ethernet cables (NVR) carry audio, so all cameras with microphones could record audio to the NVR

—————————————————————————————————————

DVR (OLD Technology – Coax Cabling)

► Coaxial cable does not provide power to the camera, there are actually two cables included within one covering, a power and video cable.

DVR systems transmit analog video signal, which results in a lower quality image compared to NVR systems. (Siamese cable)

DVR systems transmit analog video signal and process the video/data at the DVR/recorder

Make sure that your cable to camera connection is in a Waterproof housing or your cameras will rust/corrode and stop working

Do not slow down your home WiFi by using a bunch of video cameras on it, or it will slow down your gaming, streaming, and internet usage

Do not use battery powered cameras unless you plan to check, charge, and/or replace the batteries often  (do you want to be up on a ladder in the rain replacing a battery ?

Do the cameras that you’re looking at require 110/VAC ? (regular power outlet) How much is going to cost to get an Electrician to install the 110/VAC to your new camera location ?  Can you even find an Electrician who will do that type of work ?  Where is he going to run the power from ?

Regarding Ring Floodlight Camera: From Ring: Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro can only be hardwired (100V-240V). If you do not already have an existing junction box, one can be installed, however, Ring highly recommends that you engage a licensed electrician for this.

Regarding Ring Door Bell: From Ring: Question; Do you have to pay for a monthly service?  Answer; Yes, if you want to store or review videos, you’ll need to pay a yearly fee (which is around $30). Otherwise it’s live feed ONLY. There is a grace period, but then that goes away.

Low Voltage Cabling Explained

Low Voltage Cabling represents approximately 80% of your Network Efficiency!

As a structured cabling provider, ECS can help you design and install Low Voltage Cabling that will provide reliable communications, regardless of what applications the future brings.

A well designed/installed structured cabling infrastructure will support your wired and wireless networks and provide you a flexible growth model and a pathway to implement new/evolving technologies for data and voice.

CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, CAT7, and CAT7A Low Voltage Cables are all manufactured with 4-twisted pairs.

Most large/major/reputable Cable Manufacturers provide Low Voltage Cable that meets/exceeds the minimum industry standards.

You should ONLY use Low Voltage Cables that meet/exceed NEC, ANSI and IEEE standards.

CAT5e Cable supports Gigabit Ethernet at 100-MHz frequency up to 100 Meters (328’)

——————————————————————————————————————–

CAT6 Cable supports Gigabit Ethernet at 250-MHz frequency up to 100 Meters (328’)

CAT6 Cable supports 10-Gigabit Ethernet at 250-MHz frequency up to 50 Meters (164’)

——————————————————————————————————————–

CAT6A Cable supports Gigabit Ethernet at 500-MHz frequency up to 100 Meters (328’)

CAT6A Cable supports 10-Gigabit Ethernet at 500-MHz frequency up to 100 Meters (328’)

——————————————————————————————————————–

CAT7A cabling supports 100GB Ethernet at 1,000-MHz frequency up to 15-Meters (49’)

CAT7A cabling supports 40GB Ethernet at 1,000-MHz frequency up to 50-Meters (164’)

CAT7A cabling supports 10GB Ethernet at 1,000-MHz frequency up to 100-Meters (328’)
