Video Surveillance IP -VS- Analog

Video Surveillance systems are a great way to Protect your Home or Business.

DVR -VS- NVR:

Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is “Analog” and runs over Coaxial Cable. (Yesterday’s/OLD Technology)

Network Video Recorder (NVR) is IP and runs over CAT5e/CAT6 Cabling. (Current Technology using the same cabling as PC’s Printers, Routers, Firewalls, IP Phones, etc.)

IP -VS- Analog:

The largest trend in Video Surveillance today is the move from Analog (Coax) Cameras to IP (CAT5e/CAT6) Cameras. While all surveillance cameras are digitized to view and record on computers, ONLY IP Cameras Digitize the Video Inside the Camera. More importantly, IP supports Megapixel while Analog does not. This is rapidly driving the adoption of IP within the professional market.

Storage:

Local Storage would be using a DVR/NVR. Remote Storage would be using Storage in the Cloud Some Video Surveillance systems use Local Storage on a DVR/NVR and offer “Optional” Cloud Storage back-up for a monthly fee.

Viewing Video:

Local Viewing can be accomplished by connecting the DVR/NVR to a Monitor along with a Mouse. Some DVR/NVR’s come with a “TV-Like” Remote Control to control playback. If the DVR/NVR is connected to your “Network”, you should be able download a viewing application to your PC, Laptop, or Tablet and view from them.  Most newer systems offer Mobile applications that can be downloaded to your smartphone for remote viewing. (this requires that your DVR/NVR be connected to the internet)

Video Resolution:

4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) has a considerably Higher Resolution than 1080P High-Definition (HD) video. 4K resolution is exactly 3840 x 2160 pixels, while 1080P consists of only 1920 x 1080 pixels.

4K/8-Megapixel (MP) Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) = 3,840 X 2,160 Image size in pixels

2K/4-Megapixel (MP) Super-High-Definition (HD) = 2,560 X 1,440 Image size in pixels

1080P Full-High-Definition (HD) = 1,920 X 1,080 Image size in pixels

720P High-Definition (HD) = 1,920 X 1,080 Image size in pixels

► With Higher Security Camera Resolution, you will Obtain Better Image Quality and Details.

► 4K/8MP UHD Security Cameras Deliver Sharper and Clearer Images than 2K/4MP HD, 1080P HD and 720P HD security cameras.

► 4K/8MP UHD Security Cameras generally have a Wider Field of View (FOV) than 2K/4MP HD, 1080P HD and 720P HD security cameras.
