What is the Difference between CAT5e & CAT6 Cable

CAT5e and CAT6 Cables both use 4 twisted pairs of copper wire in each cable.

CAT6 cables meet more stringent specifications for reduced crosstalk and system noise than CAT5e cables. CAT6 cables provide performance speeds up to 250MHz, while CAT5e cables only support speeds up to 100MHz

CAT6 Cables provide lower crosstalk, higher signal-to-noise ratio, and are compatible with 10GBASE-T (10-Gigabit Ethernet)

CAT5e Cables support up to 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet)

A spline was incorporated into the CAT6 design isolating each of the four pairs of twisted wire, which makes CAT6 cables more rigid.

CAT6 cables usually cost 10 to 25% more than their CAT5e cables. Prices vary by manufacturer and seller.
